Languages
The 2014 Primary National Curriculum made learning a foreign language compulsory at KS2 (Year 3 to Year 6).
At Springdale, we teach Spanish as it is one of the most spoken languages in the world and the one students of all ages consider more useful for the future. Learning another language helps in many different ways, in particular at these ages. The many benefits include improving brain flexibility, supporting literacy in English and enhancing problem solving amongst others.
Learning a language also involves learning a new culture. Our lessons are delivered in a fun way, practicing the four skills that a language is made of (speaking, listening, reading and writing), and not only teaching the language itself but the traditions and costumes of many Spanish speaking countries.
Through purposeful play and other activities, the children at Springdale are introduced in the fascinating world of languages and cultures.
